The concert proposed by Carlo Muratori is a time travel into the culture and the heart of Sicily.
It is not possible to understand such a Sicilian artist without having partly figured out his native land, as too much related are the bonds and the cultural connections between the people and the ground, places and traditions. This island, lapped by the Mediterranean Sea, has always represented one of the most important and unique crossroads of different languages, arts, traditions, thoughts as well as the philosophies that still inspire the South of Europe. At the instigation of a dedicated study on the musical tradition of the Sicilian people, Carlo Muratori has developed his own repertoire in the course of 20 years of concerts. It represents a fantastic “continuum” between the ancient and the modern, the past and the present. It is an inside view of an island which belonged to the Arabs, the Swabians, the Bourbons in contrast with what it is nowadays, that is to say a gateway, a port of entry for those who emigrate from the East or Africa to Europe. It is still Sicily that resists the globalizing boost and stands up for its memories. It is the land of mafia and intellectuals, poets, artists who continue influencing the culture and the thought both Italian and European.
Carlo Muratori sings and tells his being Sicilian, the way he lives in a land both complicated and bewitching, both pleasant and dangerous,  a land that is a mother and a cruel mother, a land of contradictions. He quavers the songs of the peasant, the wagoner, the fisherman and the mineworker. It is from these ancient tunes that he draws inspiration in order to convey to the people his sense of contemporaneous Sicilian artist.
His new CD “La Padrona del Giardino” (The Garden’s Owner) is composed of 10 tracks. The lyrics’ language is mature: it evolves from the Sicilian dialect into Italian, French, and Spanish and tells about Sicily at the dawn of the third millennium. The concert proposes the most significant songs of his musical career together with the new releases.
